The Shapeshifters makes his long-awaited return to Glitterbox Recordings with ‘On The Way Up’ marking a new sonic chapter for Simon Marlin. A beloved member of the Glitterbox tapestry responsible for some of the label’s brightest tracks, including 2022’s modern disco LP Let Loose, standalone tracks such as ‘Beautiful Day’ with Liisi Lafontaine and classics etched in time like ‘Lola’s Theme’, The Shapeshifters sound has influenced Glitterbox’s approach to not only its recordings catalogue but also its unbridled, world-renowned events. In-between touring the globe and representing the brand at Amnesia in Ibiza, House of Yes in NYC plus its flagship festivals Defected Croatia and Defected Malta, The Shapeshifters has spent many hours creating new music at both his own brand-new high-tech studio facility Earthworks as well as at the legendary Film Center Building in Manhattan in the Renaissance studio. For his latest release, one that signals the coming of a new album project, Simon has enlisted the help of NYC-based band 79.5 whose influences of underground disco, funk and modern soul are a perfect fit for the new era of The Shapeshifters. Throughout ‘On The Way Up’, 79.5’s lush vocal harmonies are supported by a signature sound that is fresh yet still 100% Simon Marlin in nature, resulting in a vibrant, dancefloor ready-record dripping in timeless flavour.
