Anyone else see the correlation between what Jung calls the shadow self, and what Orthodoxy sees as the passions?

And the way we approach that “shadow,” the “passions,” or even those “inner demons,” isn’t by accepting and integrating, but by denying ourselves and striving to live like Christ and the Saints instead.
