Whether you’re hosting friends, family, or Airbnb guests, a little thoughtfulness goes a long way. These are my tried-and-true guest room essentials that make any visitor feel completely at home, even if you don’t have a dedicated space!

1. THE BED
• Invest in a great mattress + sturdy frame (ours is from Wayfair!)
• Use crisp white percale sheets (270–290 thread count) for that hotel feel
• Keep a mix of pillows — both feather + synthetic
• Add extra blankets or even an electric one for chilly nights
💡 Tip: Store backup linens under the bed for quick resets!
2. FURNITURE + FUNCTIONALITY
• Nightstand with lamp, tissues & charging outlets (USB if possible)
• Luggage stand, bench, or trunk for bags
• Closet with hangers + empty drawers
• Full-length mirror (a must if the bathroom is shared!)
• Small trash can + cozy chair if there’s space
3. TOILETRIES & TOWELS
• Stack of fluffy bath towels + washcloths
• Mini toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, deodorant, toothpaste)
• Soft robe
• Don’t forget: extra TP + discreet plunger
• Hamper if guests are staying longer
4. EXTRA TOUCHES
• WiFi password on a pretty framed card
• Water carafe (or bottles) + a snack basket (granola bars, fruit, trail mix!)
• Blackout curtains for solid sleep
• Fan for white noise
• Hairdryer, notebook + pen, guestbook, and even a pack & play for families
NO GUEST ROOM? NO PROBLEM!
You can still make any corner cozy. A pull-out sofa or kids’ room can become a sweet retreat. Add a few thoughtful touches: fresh sheets, a lamp, charger, and glass of water.
It’s the intentionality that matters most.
With a few small additions, you can turn any space into a five-star experience, one that makes your guests feel seen, cared for, and right at home. 💕
