I was feeling nostalgia for the Secret of Monkey Island, so I made a re-orchestrated cover version of its opening theme (the original one, from the VGA version of 1990). It's still hard for me to believe, but the original game is about to celebrate its 30th ANNIVERSARY!!!
The Secret of Monkey Island was such a fun game to play back in the nineties, along with other LucasArts gems such as the Indiana Jones series. They were funny games, that didn't take themselves too seriously, and were filled with jokes, running gags (3 headed monkey), self-humor, competitor bashing ("hope you saved the game!" and industry related jokes ("insert disc 22").

I created this instrumental cover purely as fan art. The original composer of most of the music in the game is Michael Land.
I tried to remain as truthful to the original version as possible, while adding my own personal touch to it (different drum pace, some different instruments, etc).
The DAW I use is Reaper. I've used various instrument libraries, with orchestral wind instruments (flutes, oboes, bassoons), drums, bass, marimbas, organs, Tam Tam drums etc. Basically mixing reggae and Caribbean instruments with orchestral instruments

Hatikvah (literally: The Hope) is the national anthem of Israel. The words express the 2000 year old hope of the Jews to return to their homeland.
The video clip shows a scene from the Arch of Titus in Rome. The arch was constructed in 81 AD to commemorate the Roman victory over the great Jewish rebellion in Judaea (70 AD). Thus began the nearly 2000 year old exile of Jews from their homeland, which ended with the establishment of the modern state of Israel.
The scene depicts a Roman Triumph led by Jewish slaves, exposing artifacts captured during the war. One of the artifacts is the Menorah (ΧΧ ΧΧ¨Χ), a central religious artifact looted from the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem (the Second Temple), which the Romans burnt to the ground after capturing Jerusalem. The Menorah later became the emblem of the modern state of Israel (appearing at the end of the video).
Thus the symbol of Jewish defeat and exile became a symbol renewed Jewish independence and life in their ancient homeland.
The modern state of Israel was established only a few years after Jews suffered their greatest tragedy, the genocide of around 6 million European Jews by Nazi German and its collaborators during the 2nd World War.
This is an instrumental cover I created of Hatikva. The DAW I used for this orchestral MIDI remake is Reaper. Strings (violins, viola, cello, deep strings) dominate the first part of the song. Epic-style cinematic instruments dominate the second part, instruments such as brass instrument (trumpets, horns), oboe, clarinets, flutes, harp, and percussion instruments (timpani drums, drums, cymbals) .
