THE SEA

By P B Taylor

I

We walked across the wind-swept land
Forever wondering whether it would work
I dropped you at the sandy station
You dropped me into a sea of oblivion

II

We lived in a world which seemed wild
Like the stormy sea, in rocks where we loved
A gnawing wind blew on the salty windows
The windows of our love slowly clouding

III

He watched us impassive, seen before
Waiting for his say which wasn’t much
She went her way and he said he couldn’t say
Or pass a watery damnation on the event

The sands and grass and rocks are still there
She went like the wind just for the money
