This webinar will examine substance use disorder (SUD) as a medical condition that affects physical and mental health.
Biological and environmental risk factors contribute to the condition’s development and progression. Scientific understanding of SUD can help inform prevention and treatment strategies that lessen the toll substance misuse takes on individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. Given its prevalence, it is critical that employers understand how SUD impacts their workforce.
This session will highlight how the Total Worker Health® framework informs the business case for employers to embrace a Recovery Friendly Workplace approach, one that supports employees across the continuum, from prevention and treatment to long-term recovery.
This webinar is part of our continuing focus on the Recovery Friendly Workplace: https://www.ohsu.edu/oregon-institute-occupational-health-sciences/recovery-and-work
Speakers:
· Suzanne H. Mitchell, Ph.D. Professor, Depts. of Behavioral Neuroscience & Psychiatry, and Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences, OHSU
· Pete Kerns, President and CEO, Serenity Lane
· Eliza Zarka, Program Director, National Recovery Friendly Workplace Institute
