Long before America became a nation, pilgrims were already gathering here in prayer. Built around 1678 by Franciscan missionaries, the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche in St. Augustine, Florida, is the oldest Marian shrine in the United States and part of the very cradle of American Catholicism.
