KOJRO Retro innovations | The Rusty IBM AT 5170, part 2. Throwing ourselves into the deep end @kojroRI | Uploaded August 2024 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
This is part two in a series where we try to uncover the secrets of the IBM AT 5170. The specimen we are working on has seen better days, but we are still optimistic about getting it running.
The last time I saw the inside of a IBM 5170 was when I did the KOJRO Christmas calendar, DosCember series back in December 2021. This is another 5170 that I did pick up some time ago, I have newer opened it before. I did not dare turn It on as it was a bit rusty outside, and there also might be some gunk in the PSU. In this episode, I take it apart, and check that there is no corrosion, and other visible faults that has to be taken care of before we can turn it on. I can already reveal that there will be another episode in this series. If we decide to do some upgrades or some more deep dive tests there also will be a third episode. #IBM5170 #IBM #RetroPc
