The Australian Government’s 2026 Budget slashes the 50% CGT discount, replacing it with cost base indexation and a 30% minimum tax from July 2027, while restricting negative gearing to existing residential properties.
These changes were made to level the playing field and give young Australians a fair go.
But, are the real consequences of this years budget? Is it a budget that rewards hard work and aspiration, or one that punishes those trying to get ahead?
