Everyone has a passion, and James Beard Award-nominated chef Steve McHugh of San Antonio's Cured restaurant doesn't think you should wait to pursue it.

After receiving a blood cancer diagnosis, he tapped into his fascination of curing and preserving meats — a charcuterie culinary style that goes back to the basics of farm to table food preparation.

Not only did Steve McHugh beat cancer, but he encouraged others not to wait until it was too late to pursue dreams of their own. Though Cured is no longer open, it left behind an important legacy of supporting local Texas ranchers and farmers.
