In 1993 a sceptical college professor with a PhD walked into a UFO conference to have a laugh, and walked out with his worldview dismantled. The man who did it was Dr John E. Mack, professor of psychiatry at Harvard for nearly forty years and a Pulitzer Prize winner, who had examined roughly a hundred experiencers and could find no sign of mental illness in any of them.
Joe Lewels tells the story of the friendship that followed: the MUFON chapter he founded in El Paso, the case files that piled up faster than his team could handle them, and the trip to Australia where an Aborigine shaman explained that his people had known about these beings for thousands of years and that life on Earth was created by a being they call the great rainbow serpent.
