Are the stories told by religions any good? Yes, affirm both Jordan Peterson and Stephen Fry. In a recent conversation on the @JordanBPeterson Podcast, the two gentlemen discussed why religious stories, rituals, and ceremonies are powerful tools to unlock truth. What made their conversation fascinating is the fact that Peterson and Fry have two completely different worldviews: Peterson has opened himself up to Christianity and affirms objective morality while Fry calls himself an atheist and a moral relativist. Their conversation led them to explore a narrative view of modern science, the fine-tuning of the universe, the question of the multiverse, history, ancient religions, and the origin of Western culture. The discussion culminated in Peterson posing a challenge to Fry which exposed not only the incoherence of Fry’s atheistic and relativistic worldview but also the fact that moral relativism isn’t actually livable.
