Daisy Dunn does an absolutely phenomenal job bringing the world of both Pliny the Elder, and Younger, to life on the pages of this book.

Just a note: the volcanic eruption of Vesuvius is only briefly touched on in this book. It's more used to set the scene rather than to drive the narrative. Dunn does make this crystal clear on the cover (given it's called The Life of Pliny) as well as in the introduction, but I just wanted to reiterate that this is a non-fiction biography of Pliny the Younger, and how the life of his uncle impacted his own.

Brilliant, wonderful, vibrant. Loved it
