The Mob Reporter here with news of Gioacchino Gammino, 61, who was on the run after escaping prison, where he was serving a life sentence for murder. His secret double life as a shopkeeper and chef outside Madrid was ruined when Italian anti-Mafia police found him on Google Map’s Street View. “How did you find me? I haven’t even called my family for ten years,” he reportedly asked the cops who grabbed him. Here is how.
Before Google Maps made this mobster famous, he was a boss of La Stidda, around Agrigento region, in Sicily’s southwest. La Stidda, which in English mean The Star, began in the 1980s as a rebel faction of displaced members of Cosa Nostra — the traditional and powerful Sicilian Mafia.
