When most of us hear the term hobbit, what comes to mind is the fictional character in the novels of J. R. R. Tolkien. An ancient mortal race that lived underground during middle earth, that too barefooted. Little did we know, there was actually a human species with almost the exact features described. They are known as Homo floresiensis.
In our previous videos, we have described and spoken about this human species but only briefly along with other ancient human species. Do go check them out and don’t forget to hit like and subscribe. In this video we are going to have a longer discussion about this ancient hobbit species, so don’t go anywhere.
Believed to have lived between 95,000 years ago to 17,000 years ago in Indonesia, Homo floresiensis wasalso known as the hobbits. The reason is not that hard to figure out.Individuals of this species were quite small in size or short standing only around 3.5 feet and weighing around 33kg. They also had a tiny brain to match their tiny stature. But what was surprising about them was that they had unusually large and long feet.
