When we try to reinterpret this verse to make it more palatable for modern culture, we inadvertently create a much bigger problem. By claiming this law is about p3d0ph1l1a, we aren't "saving" the Bible; we are accusing God of commanding the execution of abused children.
It is better to wrestle with a God who disagrees with modern sexual ethics than to invent a God who punishes victims. True justice protects the weak; it doesn't sentence them to death alongside their abusers.
