School taught/teaches us that Abraham Lincoln cared sooo much about black folks and their equality that he wrote the "Emancipation Proclamation" to free all the slaves and finally make them people NOT property!

On a personal level, Lincoln opposed slavery and always did. As a lawyer, he represented former slaves and people who harbored fugitive slaves. The "Emancipation Proclamation" was 1000% not about slaves or freedom... it was half political tactic & half war strategy
