Thinking about starting a boutique with little to no money? This week in the $100 Boutique Challenge, reality starts to set in.
I finally started getting responses for our FREE photoshoot campaign, but finding the right photographer, model, location, and everyone’s availability is proving to be harder than expected. At the same time, I’m still searching the LA Fashion District for affordable inventory, struggling to find styles that fit the vision, stay within budget, and have enough stock to actually launch.
This episode also marks a major turning point for the boutique. We finally decide on our pricing strategy, define the brand as an affordable luxury boutique, and after attending a trade show, I start questioning whether buying wholesale is the right path… or if I should design a signature piece instead.
This is the reality of building a business on a tight budget. Plans change, obstacles come up, and sometimes the best decision isn’t the easiest one.
In this episode:
• Photoshoot campaign responses are finally coming in
• Reviewing photographers and models
• Finding free photoshoot locations in Los Angeles
• Searching for boutique inventory at the LA Fashion District
• Why I left empty handed… again
• Choosing the right pricing strategy
• Defining Salt & Soleil as an affordable luxury brand
• Should a boutique buy wholesale or design its own collection?
• The real challenges of starting a boutique with only $100
💬 I need your advice!
If you were starting this boutique, what would you do?
Would you continue buying wholesale products or would you design one signature piece to help the brand stand out?
