In the 1970s, a director named Russell S. Doughten made a movie called A Thief in the Night, promoting the idea of a secret rapture. It was followed by three sequels throughout the 1980s, pushing a fictional narrative as if it were Biblical truth.
Then in 1988, a book titled 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Happen in 1988 hit the shelves. When it didn’t happen, the same author released 89 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Happen in 1989. This pattern kept repeating.
In 2007, the Left Behind series exploded, earning over $65 million, winning awards, and even spawning four video games where “believers” left behind after the rapture fight to survive in a post-rapture world.
False predictions continued:
“Are You Ready?” predicted the return in 1984, then again in 2011.
Then came the hype of 2012 and the Mayan calendar, another false alarm.
And now, every single year, Christians repeat the cycle, claiming this Feast day, this blood moon, this September is the one. But the rapture never happens because the real timeline of events is already laid out in Scripture.
There is no secret escape. There is a resurrection after the tribulation — just as Yahushua said.
