A presentation of "The Prophecy of Apollo - track 2 from my 2026 album, "Invocation to Athena". This album features original compositions for recreated ancient Greek lyres & kithara, inspired by themes from Classical Mythology...
According to classical mythology, Apollo, besides being the god of Music, is also associated with prophecy.
Apollo's most famous association with prophecy is through the Oracle of Delphi. The Oracle, a woman named the Pythia, would go into a trance and deliver cryptic prophecies in Apollo's name.
Featuring featuring Luthieros ‘Lyre of Thamyris', this p iece features the poignant and dreamy quality of the ancient Greek Phrygian Mode. Misnamed the ‘Dorian’ mode by scholars during the Middle Ages, the actual original ancient Greek Phrygian Mode was formed of the conjunction of 2 tetrachords, which formed the equivalent intervals as D-D on the white notes of the piano.
The track started off as a spontaneous improvisation, the melody magically pouring from the strings as I played it:
