The Prince: Lessons from Machiavelli, pt. 1
Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince is probably the most important treatise in modern political theory. The lessons within are perhaps the most fundamental to all politics: how to get power and hold onto it. For those of us on the Right I think we'd do well to familiarize ourselves with the arguments and lessons Machiavelli has, if for no other reason than to understand our enemies better. Before I conduct a systematic analysis of The Prince however it's important to understand Machiavelli himself and the world and circumstances that prompted him to write The Prince.
