Music tells us that we are greater than we can know. Songs have the power to gesture beyond what words are capable of. At our recent symposium, Cantor Emanuel Perlman gave the traditional Hebrew Priestly Blessing, offering a moment of ancient, mediating song amidst a day of profound discussion.

Dating to the late Iron Age, the Hebrew Priestly Blessing is the oldest extant citation of biblical text and the oldest datable liturgical text of any continuous religious tradition.
