Marian H | The Priest Who Wrote Sci-Fi ... Lord of the World book review (no spoilers) - podcast / audio-only @marianhreads | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Some first impressions of Lord of the World (1907) by Robert Hugh Benson. This novel explores end-times dystopia from a Catholic perspective, contrasting with the socialist ideals of H.G. Wells and George Orwell. Looking back on this recording - taken from my podcast archives - I wish I had delved into the book more deeply. There is much more that could be analyzed from theological, philosophical, and comparative angles. (Maybe a reread is in order?) Hopefully this at least gives you enough info as to whether you would enjoy reading it yourself!

This audio was recorded January 2018.
