The Price of the Phoenix is one of the earliest Star Trek novels, written and published in 1977 by Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath. The Kirk/Spock sexual undertones are between the lines in this one, so expect something similar to Star Trek written by the author of 50 Shades of Grey, but with thinly disguised love affair and BDSM stuff going on. The book also features multiple love triangles: Kirk/Spock/Omne and Kirk/Kirk/The Commander, as well as Kirk/Spock/The Commander. Expect some turgid and purple prose, too. But it's still a lot of fun.
