Economist Marian L. Tupy experienced socialism firsthand during his childhood in Czechoslovakia.

He explains that under socialism you don’t just lose your economic freedom; you also lose your political liberty: “When socialists fail to deliver on their promises and people become unhappy and revolt, to keep socialism going the revolt has to be suppressed.”
