Pokemon Winds and Waves just got announced in the Pokemon Presents Pokemon Day 2026 announcement showcase. After what seemed like an eternity of mediocre mainline pokemon games, this is the one that is looking like it has the most potential to break that cycle. It is also exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 and has a slated release date for 2027 as opposed to the standard November release times right before the holidays. This is a really good sign because it could mean that Game Freak is taking more time to work on these titles to polish them up to the quality they deserve to be. I also wonder if these games will be a solid system seller for the Switch 2, as it has not had a lot of dedicated system seller games until now. This video goes through my reactions and thoughts.
