Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen came at a fascinating time in series history. They are lovely and intriguing to explore just as the singular pieces that they are, but I have this major appreciation for them in the context of the series at large for reasons like this one. Going into Gen 3 and the hardware that came with it warranted this series reset with Ruby and Sapphire, and FireRed and LeafGreen have a partial purpose of solving those "problems". These games finish out Emerald's Pokedex of course and give players a fresh look at Kanto- but that combination left so many odds and ends- this Poke Ball problem being a perfect example of that. In some ways stuff like this is very frustrating, but there's something about the little quirks these games have that I just can't get enough, it's so cool. Even cooler than mudkip! This one's for all the Sceptile, Heracross, and Zigzagoon fans out there.
