For centuries, European and North American Catholic missionaries traveled the world to spread the gospel. Their missions worked, because the faith has spread like wildfire through Asia, Latin America, and Africa. But fast forward to the present day, and vocations aren’t what they used to be in the West. We don’t have enough priests to oversee our parishes or religious sisters to staff our schools. So these some counties, mostly in the global south, have sent priests and religious to Europe and the USA to assist in efforts of evangelization and charity. This is the reverse mission.
