Here’s what you should check out on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula 👇
📍 Kolgrafafjörður Bridge: Known as the “Viking Sword Bridge” because it looks like a sword from above. It is a great spot to see the mountains reflecting in the water.
📍 Berserkjahraun Viewpoint: A perfect place to pull over and see the jagged, snow or moss-covered lava field that stretches across the landscape.
📍 Kirkjufell Mountain: One of the most famous mountains in Iceland. You can view the arrowhead peak right alongside the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall.
📍 Ólafsvík: A scenic fishing town and the birthplace of the famous artist Erró. It is a great place for a lunch stop.
📍 Svöðufoss Waterfall: Stretch your legs on this 10-15 minute walk to a powerful waterfall framed by basalt columns.
📍 Ingjaldshólskirkja Church: A picturesque red-roofed church on a hilltop. During summer, it’s surrounded by lupines!
📍 Snæfellsjökull Ice Cap: This glacier-capped volcano is the star of the region and is famous for being the entrance to the underground in Jules Verne’s novel Journey to the Center of the Earth.
