Take a behind-the-scenes look into a painter’s process and vision in creating an original work of sacred art.

Commissioned especially for the Word on Fire Bible (Volume II): Acts, Letters, and Revelation, Michael Stevens’ “The Pentecost (After Maíno)” presents the descent of the Holy Spirit as a dramatic collage of images drawn from across the tradition of art.

Through a synthesis of stylistic influences ranging from baroque to contemporary, the piece presents the awe-inspiring descent of the Holy Spirit in all its bewildering suddenness and mystery.
