With Thanksgiving being a time to give thanks, a time to give thanks to the Lord for all that he has done, Finding the peace of God, and having peace with God “that surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7) should never be forgotten.

In this Bible devotional / Bible study, Pastor Nelson reminds us that the peace of God is one blessing Christians need to be more thankful for. We are also reminded that when the world cries for peace, it actually cries for the presence of Jesus, because it is only through Jesus, that the Peace of God is offered.

I’ve been thinking about the Peace of God, a lot.

And here’s why, as I’ve been reading through the book of Zechariah, I came across this verse, which reads, "He shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.” Now that passage is talking about, the Messiah, Jesus. About the peace of God that Christians will finally enjoy when He returns. It’s talking about a peace, which we have yet to experience.

The fact is, right now, we live in a world of perpetual unrest, a world devoid of peace. Think about it. His nation, our world is so clearly, not at peace. War, violence, and civil unrest is everywhere. Even if you were somehow able avoid contact with any other human being, you still wouldn’t experience peace. Natural disasters, danger from animals, and our ongoing need of safe water and food would never give way to peace. Even internally, our bodies are constantly at war fighting disease, viruses, and infections.

True peace… the peace so many long for, is not just a state of being. It’s actually the presence of Jesus. When people cry out for peace, they are unknowingly or not, crying out for the presence of Jesus in this world and in their lives.

As Christian’s, what an awesome opportunity we have to point to the prince of Peace, when those around us who cry out for peace. And friends, what an awesome privilege and opportunity you have to give thanks to God, that even in this world, devoid of peace, “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When those around you cry for peace, point to Jesus, and never stop giving thanks for the Peace of God you have.

That’s today’s Bible Munch.
