After a rare night out without their three children, Morgan Crossan and Jordan Masenior returned to their home in Port Deposit on Saturday night to find it engulfed in flames.

“They come back and just felt something felt wrong and she went around and she opened the door and it just hit her in the face,” said Morgan’s aunt, Mary Ayers, “She’s lucky. She’s very lucky. I’m a little worried about her, because she wouldn’t let anyone examine her.”

When firefighters arrived at the home on Post Road, they learned a total of eight dogs and puppies remained inside and only two survived.

“The paramedics tried doing CPR on them and they weren’t able to come back,” recalled Camren Casalena, the victims’ brother, “Morgan also needed oxygen.”

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, at this point, it appears that the fire originated inside the kitchen.

The estimated loss associated with the house and its contents is $250,000, and the family is now seeking donations through a GoFundMe account to raise money for some essentials like food and clothing.

Members of the community have already started dropping off donations across the street at the house of some of their extended family.

“I have two small children, myself, so I know all about the getting clothes and everything, because I know any help for anybody is greatly appreciated,” said Larry Sage of Elkton as he dropped off some items.

But nothing can replace their beloved pets.
