If you're inherently a non-confrontation person who values social harmony and likes to keep the peace, you don't need to force yourself to be "assertive" just for assertive's sake. If you're anything like me (an introvert & a peace keeper whose energy gets drained by unnecessary conflicts faster than a sneeze), you really need to make smart choices about where to invest your social and heart energy. Channeling your inner panda doesn't mean you are remaining passive or being a doormat--it simply means that you recognize and decide when you need engage + fend off negativity, and when you can simply just play tai-chi and let those bad energies roll off your shoulders. It's a balance--and it's what the panda archetype is all about.
