This video lesson demonstrates how to perform an oxidase test by using a Gibson Oxidase Swab to detect a bacterial enzyme called cytochrome c oxidase. This test is often used to help identify glucose non-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli such as Pseudomonas (most of which are oxidase-positive) as well as the genus Neisseria.
