Whoa, my voice has been on Youtube for over 5 years now. In this special video commemorating the occasion, I tell the story of my channel's history and things! =D

Hello everybody, Pokecon14 here, and welcome to my 5-year anniversary since my first video! I actually created my channel a little more that 6 years ago, on March 14th, 2009, but it took me a year and 3 days to upload my first video to Youtube. I am here today to tell the story of my history on Youtube, from inspiration to previously unknown catalysts, up to the time that I began my first let’s play, Shiny Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
The fist time that I ever went on Youtube was back in fall of 2008. This was the time in between the Japanese and English releases of Pokemon Platinum, and sure enough, that was my reason for going to the internet. I was very excited for a new Pokemon game after playing through Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Emerald recently. I was kinda obsessed! So when I first searched up Pokemon Platinum, the first video that I watched was Marriland’s Japanese Platinum walkthrough. I can remember that he only made somewhere between 10-12 parts to cover the whole game. I watched them all, but there were other things I wanted to see. That’s where I first stumbled upon Chuggaaconroy’s Japanese Platinum videos, and his were more in-depth. So those were the first 2 Youtubers that I ever watched. Besides just checking out their Pokemon Platinum videos, I decided to stick around on Youtube and watch what else they had. I was still just interested in Pokemon, so I primarily watched Marriland’s videos over Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. That was one main inspiration I had to do an LP, (or a walkthrough, as I mostly called it at that point), of my own. Anyway, I’ll get back to creating my channel, because at that point, it hadn’t happened yet.
I really wanted to create videos of my own, but at that point, no event really made me go do it-I only dreamed. But the final push for creating a channel came from a rather weird and childish-ly stupid intention, if you ask me. There was another Youtuber at that time that I was watching who made videos of himself chaining shiny Pokemon with the Poke Radar in Diamond, by the name of Z33. Me being the innocent yet rather ignorant 10-year old that I was, I finally ended up making my account to message or comment to him in hopes to trade for one of the shinies. I sent one message, but I didn’t get too far. xD
Just so you know, I was eventually successful in changing myself a shiny Shinx. (And later a Roselia too)
If I recall correctly, my mom was the first to coin that name, combining my name, “Connor," and “Pokemon.” And my favorite number of 14 comes from my birthday, November 14th. Boom.
Well, now I had a channel. What to do with it? Make a video, of course! Apparently, for my past self, (….. and present self too …. ), it’s harder than it sounds. Before I ever began a let’s play, I wanted to have a different, special video introducing my channel and myself. Anyone who’s looked back at my old videos may think that they know what my first video idea was, but you don’t. The first video that I ever tried to record was not my Pokemon Platinum Darkrai event, but rather myself catching Arceus in Pokemon Pearl. This was hacked off of an action replay, just so you know. It really didn’t turn out like I wanted, and it was way too long for Youtube’s 10-minute time limit back then, so the video was eventually scrapped.
After that, I decided to follow through on a similar idea, catching Darkrai in Pokemon Platinum. After receiving the mystery gift, I held it for months until I brought myself to making the video. I was pretty nervous. It took me a few tries to get the intro down after practicing it myself. Eventually I caught it, and the video was a success! However, the footage was about 11 minutes long, and Youtube didn’t accept it. That’s why it is split into 2 separate parts.
I actually didn’t save after catching that Darkrai, because I wanted to soft reset until I got a shiny one. I don’t remember how many tries it took, but I eventually did find myself a legitimate shiny Darkrai in Pokemon Platinum, which I still have to this day. I JUST GOT TOO LAZY TO FINISH WRITING BEYOND THIS PART SORRY, YOU MUST WATCH THE VIDEO FROM HERE.
