Martin Richard was the youngest of three victims killed by two domestic terrorists who detonated two homemade improvised explosive devices near the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013. He was described by a family friend, "He had that million-dollar smile and you never knew what was going to come out of him. Denise is the most spectacular mother that you've ever met and Bill is a pillar of the community. It doesn't get any better than these people."
After his death his family founded the Martin Richard Foundation to advance Martin’s values of sportsmanship, inclusion, kindness and peace by investing in programs that encourage young people to celebrate diversity and engage as community leaders. The Foundation can be found at https://teammr8.org.
His final resting place can be found at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester Center near Boston, Massachusetts. He is located in Section 1A, Row 8, Grave 1 which is the first section on the right hand side as you drive into the cemetery.
