Blood-sucking creatures have made an appearance in the folklore in various cultures throughout history, but in European folklore, vampires are undead creatures that cause trouble and death in the regions they inhabit. The term 'vampire' became popularized in Western Europe during the 18th century, and once novels such as The Vampyre and Dracula were published in the 19th century, vampires became a pop-culture icon sparking their own genre; a trend that has persisted to this day. Join historians Glen Kyle and Marie Walker to learn more about the history behind these creatures and how they are portrayed today.
