Just like making great coffee is a good habit, so is maintaining your machine. Follow along with our simple steps to ensure your Breville coffee machine is performing at the top of its potential, so you don’t have to sacrifice on the quality of your coffee.

Group Head Purge (00:35):
1. Remove the portafilter from the group head.
2. Get your brew water to the correct temperature by double tapping the brew icon to purge.
3. Reinsert and lock the portafilter to the group head. Activate a short 5-second water flow by double tapping the brew icon again.
4. Thoroughly dry and clean the filter basket. This step helps ensure an even extraction by minimizing the risk of channeling.
5. Once the extraction is complete, remove the portafilter. Then, double tap the brew icon again to rinse any remaining coffee residue from the group head.
6. Knock out the used coffee puck from the portafilter.
7. Rinse and clean the filter basket.
Clear Water Backflush (1:23):
1. Empty the drip tray.
2. Find the grey silicone cleaning disc that is supplied with your Breville coffee machine and insert it into your filter basket.
3. Lock the portafilter into the group head.
4. Tap the brew icon and stop the shot after 20 seconds. This will cause the water to discharge back into the drip tray.
5. Repeat this 3-4 more times.
Filter Basket Rinse (02:08):
1. Ensure that the filter basket is cooled before handling.
2. Remove and wash the filter basket and portafilter under hot water.
3. If you find that the holes in your filter basket are blocked, soak it in hot water with a cleaning tablet for 20 minutes.
4. Rinse and dry before using again.
