One track, one synth, one lazy afternoon...
My good friend Eric Lewing came up with a great idea for a challenge - make an entire track using only one synth for all the sounds. You can use a DAW to record and mix them on, but everything has to come out of the one synth. Using a Groovebox is cheating...
Ages ago I watched Vince Clarke in the studio make tracks entirely from his ARP 2600, so I thought I'd try the same. I don't have an original 2600 - Korg had sold out of their remake when I put my order in too - so my weapon of choice is a Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin...
The track and video took seven hours from start to upload. It's obviously not gonna smash the download charts any time soon but for one day's work? Think of it like a work in progress or quick demo and you'll get the idea...
I really enjoyed doing it and definitely recommend you give it a go if you can - it's a brilliant way to get to know a synth and really stretch your skillz...
