A new discovery at Göbekli Tepe in Turkey is giving archaeologists fresh insight into one of the most mysterious prehistoric sites ever discovered.
Dating back more than 12,000 years, Göbekli Tepe is considered the oldest monumental ritual complex in the world, built thousands of years before Stonehenge or the Egyptian pyramids.
Researchers recently uncovered a human statue embedded directly into a wall between two structures, suggesting it may have been placed intentionally as part of a ritual offering.
Human figures are extremely rare at the site, making this discovery particularly significant.
