The first finds of the remains of Australopithecus date back to about 4 million years ago. And the first of them, made in 1924, has an Amazing Story. It was the skull of a cub aged 3 to 6 years. It was discovered by Anthropologist Raymond Dart in Taung, South Africa. Surprisingly, no more traces of Australopithecus were found in this area. From this, scientists concluded that the cub was carried away by some large bird. To identify a new species in these remains, the scientist was helped by fangs, which were much smaller than those of all known great apes. Australopithecus in all sizes were similar to other large Primates, but were already upright.
