Eckhart Tolle once had an imaginary conversation with God. He mentioned that people care a great deal about pronouns these days, and asked which one God preferred, since we have always said he. God answered, why are you asking me. I told Moses my name three and a half minutes ago. To God, three and a half minutes. To us, three and a half thousand years. Because in the Old Testament, Moses stood on the mountain and asked God for a name. And the answer was simply, I am. When Moses asked what to tell his people, the reply was, tell them the I am has sent you.

Not I am this or I am that, with a label attached, but the pure sense that you are, here and now, underneath every thought and perception.
