Another trip down Memory Lane from our apartment at 3018 Brooklyn. These two stories occurred in 1955 while we were living there. It was just south of downtown Kansas City.
The first story involves an elderly man who was a master woodcarver and the summer I spent with him was he created a masterpiece from wood. He had tuberculosis, and my mother told me to not get too close to him for fear that I might catch tuberculosis. Fortunately, I didn't, and I did get pretty close so I could watch his talented hands work their magic on the wood.
The second story involves a trip from our apartment to the old Forum Cafeteria on Main Street. I loved eating at this place and it was always a treat when my mother took me there.
