The Old Man and the Sea: Return to Cuba - Smuggler's Edition is the uncompromising story of Finbar Gittelman and his adventures in the Caribbean. Battling hurricane's, chased by Cuban gunboats, facing off with the Cuban Military during the Mariel Boat Lift - these are the stories that make a him a legend.
Finbar asked us to not releases several of his stories until after he was gone, and in December of 2024, we lost our dear friend and Admiral to the great beyond. Now, we can tell the stories he would only reveal to a private few over cigars and rum at his home in Key West. Stories of facing off with Cuban gun boats and the struggles his family had with the Castro Revolution. All is revealed here in this 4k remaster of the award winning film.
STORY:
His family fled Cuba when Castro took over. Now, after 50 years, master sailor Finbar Gittelman returns to Havana for the first time to see what is left of his former home. Sailing to Cuba on his beloved Topsail Schooner "WOLF", Captain Finbar tells stories of his life on the open sea, battling hurricanes, and facing off with the Cuban military during the Mariel Boat Lift.
Filmed in Key West, the Florida Straits and in various locations in Cuba, this documentary is filled with exceptional vistas as well as original Cuban Music and newly recorded sea shanties made especially for this film.
