Everyone in that world either holds the sun or holds the moon, which is what they call their powers. Those who hold the sun get wings and a circle of stars around their head which resemble and angel, those who hold the moon get wings and horns resembling a demon. Despite their appearances, they are both good. Aleah holds the sun, and Ocean holds the moon.
The people that are "hated" in that world are mixed people, who are people with a mix of both powers, which is what Damon has.
