Presented here is an excerpt from a new documentary featured in the box set, MEMORIES, OBJECTS, PLACES & PEOPLE, where Mills discusses his career, artistic philosophy, and creative process with filmmaker Kirsten Johnson.
I’LL REMIND YOU OF EVERYTHING: THE FILMS OF MIKE MILLS collects three personal and panoramic family portraits—BEGINNERS (2010), 20TH CENTURY WOMEN (2016), C’MON C’MON (2021)—that compose a mosaic of Mills’s own life, setting their stories of parents and children against the backdrop of a changing America. Along with new 4K masters of the films and the full-length documentary excerpted here, the director-approved release includes:
• Audio commentaries and making-of programs on all three features;
• Music videos directed by Mills for Air’s “All I Need” and Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer”;
• Five short films by Mills: _Deformer_ (1996), _Eating Sleeping Waiting and Playing_ (1999), _The Architecture of Reassurance_ (2000), _A Mind Forever Voyaging Through Strange Seas of Thought Alone_ (2013), and _I Am Easy to Find_ (2019);
• An interview with Mills about his work beyond feature filmmaking;
• An appreciation of Mills by filmmaker Joachim Trier;
