On the morning of the 30th June 1934, German Chancellor Adolf Hitler and a select group of armed SS men made their way to a lakeside hotel in Bavaria. Their goal was to arrest the heads of the SA. Ernst Rohm , the SA chief of staff, along with other leading members of the organisation were to be rounded up.
