In 2017, a girl accidentally bought a $160 dollhouse and 4 pounds of cookies through alexa. The news caught on to the story, and one news channel covering it ended up saying "alexa ordered me a dollhouse" which made peoples alexas at home attempt to order a dollhouse. Then that story got covered, replaying the exact clip that triggered it all, which likely caused even more alexas to go off..
