Founded by bassist, composer, and arranger Bill Lee as a collaboration of seven bassists—including Lisle Atkinson, Ron Carter, Richard Davis, Michael Fleming, Milt Hinton, and Sam Jones—The New York Bass Violin Choir album features Sonny Brown (percussion), George Coleman (saxophone), and Harold Mabern (piano) “performing excerpts from ‘Baby Sweets,’ a narrative folk-jazz opera written by Bill Lee and Sonny Brown.”
