There is a new Hellboy film, but there are differences between the one released in April, 2019 vs the Hellboy released in 2004. David Harbour, who rose to fame from Netflix show, Stranger Things, is the new Hellboy. Neil Marshall is the new director replacing Guillermo Del Toro. Mike Mignola, author and illustrator of Hellboy, was very involved in the screenplay and production. This 2019 adaption seems to be closer to the actual comics. The film is a combination of three volumes "Darkness Calls", "The Wild Hunt" and "The Storm and the Fury". These volumes actually take influence from different folklore.
